An Analysis of Factors Influencing Elementary School Students Morality

본 연구는 초등학생의 도덕성에 영향을 미치는 요인을 분석하고 시사점을 도출하기 위해, 한국교육개발원 ‘학교교육 실태 및 수준 분석’의 2014년도 초등학교 자료를 사용하여 다층모형 분석을 실시하였다. 분석 결과, 초등학생의 도덕성에 영향을 미 치는 요인을 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 학생 투입변인에서는 남학생보다 여학생의 도덕성이 높은 것으로 나타났고, 둘째, 학생 과정변인에서는 부모와의 관계, 친구와의 관계, 학교폭력 대응 능력이 도덕성에 긍정적인 영향을 주는 것으로 나타 났다. 셋째, 학교 투입변인에서는 소재지(대도시), 여교장 부임학교에서 학생들의 도덕성이 높은 것으로 나타났고, 넷째, 학교 과정변인에서는 교사의 인성중시 태도가 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 반면에 교사의 학업중시 태도, 학교폭력 심의건수는 부정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이처럼 학생의 도덕성에 영향을 미치는 개인, 가정 및 학교, 교사의 다양한 요인을 고려하여, 향후 학교 차원에서 적절한 교육이 이루어져야 할 것이다

The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors that affect the morality of elementary school students’. Major findings include the followings. First, on a level of a student, it was found that female students have higher morality than male students. Second, it was found that relationships with parents, relationships with friends, and ability to respond to school violence have a positive influence on the elementary school students’ morality. Third, on a level of a school, it was found that school location(big city) and female principal have a positive influence on the elementary school students’ morality. Fourth, teacher’s attitude to attach importance to the character has a positive effect on the elementary school students’ morality. on the other hand teacher’s attitude to attach importance to the academic achievement has a negaitive effect. Based on research findings, when we set up a policy we have to consider various factors influencing elementary school students morality.
