The purpose of the study was to evaluate the effects of curcumin on GSH, GSSG, MDA, 8-OHdG concentrations in synchronized swimming exercise. 9 subjects received 600mg/day curcumin diet during 2 days and performed two times controlled exercise(VO2max 60-80%) 5hour/day in the water during 6weeks splitely. GSH, GSSG. MDA, 8-OHdG concentrations in blood were measured without curcumin supplement and with curcumin supplement at rest, before the practice, after the practice, 1hour after the practice, 2hour after the practice. We analyzed during the study periods and between the groups. We found the levels of GSH in blood did not change periods and between groups. The levels of GSSG in blood decreased periods and in curcumin supplement group. MDA, 8-OHdG in blood decreased periods and between groups. These findings provide evidence to support the beneficial effects identify the exact mechanism by which curcumin in preventing oxidative damage. I insist that supplement of antioxidant nutrients(vitamin C, E, sea food, vegetables, curcumin) need to elite synchronized swimmer to reduce a risk of various oxidative stress in practice.
