The purpose of this study is to offer basic materials for the countermeasure of protecting and marnaging athletes, and the development of their competence in a match by analyzing the injury parts, kind, period, cause, treating situation, protection of athletes and examining the characteristics of injuries according to the field and track events, and the motions of each event. To achieve this purpose, I did a survey with the subject of all the athletes in high school, college and adult athletes registered in the Korea Amateur athletic Associattion. The summary and results of this study are as follows. 1. High school athletes turned out to get injured the most of all other athletes. It is considered that atheletes in high school get easily injured because their muscle and joint are not developed completely at that time. 2. Examining injury parts according to the events, sprinters, middle and long-distance runners, and jumping atheletes had injuries on their feet, legs, and waist, and throwing atheletes had frequent inguries on their waist, arms, shoulders. 3. Jumping athletes had the most injuries in the events of games. 4. Examining the kind of injuries, they usually lie on the skin, muscles, joint. 5. Atheletes get hurt usually in the afternoon because most of them get a framing in the afternoon, and they get injured at that time. 6. The season atheletes usually get hurt turned out to be winter. Training is the mose intensive in winter, and resting time is relatively short. Therefore, to reduce season injuries, it is desirable to exercese in the water such as walking, running, and receive massage or emphasize enough stretching. 7. Atheletes get hurt mostly in individual practicing. Therefore, it is recommend that atheletes should concerntrate on their exercise not overworking. 8. In the case of causing factors of injuries according to the motions and skills of each event, it turned that starting and speeding in a short distance, training in a middle distance, stamping in jumping in jumping, the last stamping motion in a high jump, finish movement in throwing, the tition time from straight line movement to spinning movement in shot-put, and the last fin in javelin were the moments athletes usually get hurt. 10. Treatment after injury was mostly done by a medical doctor, or by himself/herself at home. 11. Treating place was mostly hospitals, and Chinese medical doctors` or acupunturists. 12. Most atheletes didn`t get hospitalized after injury. The field and track, events athletes don`t have competitors at a match, so they don`t get serious injury. 13. Most atheletes went to hospital just after injury. 14. In the case of the atheles who don`t go to hospital after injury, they didn`t go because injury didn`t seem serious. 15. In the case of daily exercise time, high school atheltes had 3~4 hours` practice, college atheltes, 2~3 hours, and adult atheltes had the most practice time, 5~6 hours. 16. completing treatment period was mostly 2~3 weeks. 17. Protecting injury methods thought by each athelete were proper relax, sleep, and enough warming-up, massage, and wncerntration followed them. From the results mentioned above, we can see that the field and track events atheletes don`t usually have serious injuries because they practice or play alone. Skin injury was the most frequent one, so friction should be minimized through studies on the materials and designs of sports shoes. It is recommened that training or practice should be done both in the morning and in the after noon taking turns every other day, and special care should be taken in winter by enough warming-up. It is also desirable to walk or run in the water or do stretching, and get massage after muscular training. It is recommended to practice with other atheletes or coaches, not alone. Additionally, starting, the last stamping, and finishing are the moments most injury happens, so it is recommended to play in the environment a shock can be minimized.
