수학 그림책을 중심으로 한 유아수학교육 활동 프로그램 적용의 교육적 의미 탐색 -뇌 기반 학습 원리를 적용하여-

A Study on the educational meaning of math activities connected to mathematics picture books based on the brain-learning principles

본 연구의 목적은 수학 그림책을 중심으로 뇌 기반 학습 원리를 적용한 유아수학 교육 활동 프로그램을 개발하고, 만 5세 유아들에게 적용하여 교육적 의미를 탐색하 는데 있다. 이와 같은 연구의 목적을 위해 발달에 적합한 수학 그림책 중에서 수학교육 내용 영역 별로 2권씩 총 10권을 선정한 후, 뇌 기반 학습 원리를 적용한 유아수학 교육 활동 프로그램을 개발하였다. 연구 대상은 J시의 T유치원 만 5세 유아 19명이 며, 10주에 걸쳐 뇌 기반 학습 원리를 적용한 수학 그림책 중심의 유아수학교육 활동 프로그램을 실시하였다. 본 연구 결과에 대한 분석 자료는 교사의 일과평가서이며, Lincoln과 Guba(1985)의 질적 연구방법에 의해 분석되었다. 자료 분석 결과, 첫째, 수학활동에 대한 유아들의 흥미를 자극하여 유아가 수학에 흥미를 갖도록 돕는 매개체 로서 ‘수학 그림책’의 가치를 발견할 수 있었다. 둘째, 언어영역과 수학영역의 자연스 러운 통합이 이루어지면서 두 영역이 모두 활성화되었다. 셋째, 유아들은 수학의 다양한 과정 기술들을 활용하여 능동적으로 문제를 해결하였다. 넷째, 유아 주도적인 수학 그림책 만들기 활동이 발현되었다. 이와 같은 연구 결과를 통해 뇌 기반 학습 원리를 적용한 수학 그림책 중심의 유아수학교육 활동의 교육적 의미를 확인할 수있었다.

The purpose of this study was to suggest the educational meaning of the math activities connected to picture books for young children. After drawing the direction of the math activities connected to picture books for young children through literature research, total of 30 activities were developed including pre-activities, main math activities connected to picture books, and post-activities. The subjects were 20 5-year-old children from A kindergarten located in J city and the math activities connected to famous pictures for young children were conducted through 10 weeks. Analysis materials to examine educational meaning are teachers’ journal and interview, and qualitative analysis method of Lincoln and Guba(1985) was used to analyse. Major finding were as follows. First, there were the educational values of picture books related to mathematic to lead children’s motivation and active participation. Second, mathematic area and language area were activated through integration. Third, children solved the problems actively through mathematical process skills. Forth, children took the math picture book initiatively. The results showed that the math activities connected to picture books based on brain-learning principles.
