A Study on the Prospective Industry Exchange and Cooperation for Developing Emerging Markets in Thailand

Purpose - The purpose of the research is to promote the revitalization of technology exchanges by enhancing understanding of Thailand and presenting a group of candidates for promising technology exchanges. Design/methodology/approach - This study examines Thailand’s economic, industrial and small business policies and the status of small and medium enterprises, focusing on the cases of Thailand’s support agencies, enterprises and Korean companies operating in the country. Research methods include on-site research and case analysis and interviews. After learning about Thailand’s economic development policy, learn about Thailand’s trade environment and the status of trade between Thailand and Korea. Based on this, it will draw up promising industries in Thai emerging markets and study ways of exchange and cooperation in promising industries to explore Thai emerging markets. Research implications or Originality - It selected ICT, food processing, mold, cosmetics and automobile industries as promising industries for cooperation in emerging markets in Thailand. Among the cooperative promising industries’ exchange and cooperation measures are the use of the Korea-ASEAN free trade agreement, South Korea’s use of advanced technologies, the use of strategies tailored to the local market, attracting Korean companies and co-prosperity with the flagship industry. Based on these measures, exchanges and cooperation between South Korea and Thailand will become active, contributing to the development of the nation’s industries.
