Purpose - This research aims to analyze the global value chain upgrading of RMG (Ready Made Garment) industry in Bangladesh. Design/methodology/approach - This research is exercised on the four viewpoints, i.e. introduction of GVC Model, GVC analysis of individual GMG firm, its sustainability and growth factor and drawing political proposal for persisting RMG export. Findings - The result showed that through analying the development process of the global value chain of RMG industry and the role of the global value chain of RMG industry in Bangladesh. authors drawed the key factors to upgrade the global value chain in Bangladesh. Research implications or Originality - Bangladeshi government and firms, in the short term, should cooperate to create new ideas for reduction of production cost and raising of sale price mutually, in the mid-terms RMG firms should progress to OEM sector and/or ODM during several GVC, and in the long term RMG firms should enter into high added value sector like as R&D, design, pattern, fabric, trim, sewing, logistics, market, and brand etc. sector.
