Comparison of real estate policies of different countries The ownership of land has been influenced by circumstances of the times and formed and changed accordingly, and limited since the Roman law through the modern civil law until the present-day law. It is an universal and common idea of the Roman law, the modern civil law and the present-day law that the right of ownership can be limited by law for public good. This paper describes how the idea of ownership of land, which is the foundation of the modern civil law, has developed in the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Japan in conjunction with the formation and development of capitalism. The concept of ownership of land still keeps on changing according to the needs of the times. This is a common trend over the world which is quite reasonable in the light of the public aspect of land.
