The study of the City Revival Strategy for Pusan’s Economic Revitalization

The local economy of Pusan, the second metropolis in Korea, has been in stagnation for a long time. After the seventies, starting from the weakening of the industrial basis of the city, the producing capacity, employment status, income level has stayed in the lower level comparing to other cities. Now the competition between cities, especially among metropolises, has been expanded fiercely in the world, and especially the urban development of Singapore which has competed with Pusan for the hub of Asia has been speeded up. Pusan should keep in order again the existing urban development plan referring the example of Singapore s development for the new economic revival of Pusan. In the long term, Pusan should head toward the independent international city, develope the contents of city to the developed countries level condensing the downtown, enlarge the production basis in the city, focus to compose the financial basis and to induce the foreign investment, establish the acceptance basis of various culture.
