The current quantity oriented building and housing markets in Korea need to be refocused on the improvement of quality in housing and building supply. Therefore, the conventional markets in construction of new buildings and housings are expected to grow slowly, but rather the markets for the remodeling of old buildings and housings are expected grow and boom in the near future. Although, the market for remodeling of buildings and housing is beginning to emerge, it is gradually gaining attention from consumer and expected to grow further due to reinforced governmental restrictions for rebuilding of old housings. The builders is preparing for this emerging future markets in addition to current construction oriented business. The measures for the promotion of remodeling of old housings and buildings include governmental policy supports as well as a new license program for trained personnels on remodeling related field. The experts and trained personnels will lead and plan the building and housing remodeling and further solve various conflicts and problems related to remodeling business. For the promotion of remodeling of old housing, the governmental public housing funds, which is currently used mostly to support construction of new housing, should be redistributed to support remodeling of old housing and new loan program for the remodeling should be developed. Even though the current market for remodeling of old buildings is small, it is expected to grow gradually, If the governmental policy on the housing is improved and technical problems are solved.
