An Urgent Problem and Challenge of Rural Healing Tourism

Recently rural healing tourism has been attracting tourists’ interest in relieving m ental stress and restoring physical daily life w ith nature-friendly experience. The purpose of this study is to explore the urgent problem s and challenges of rural healing tourism by conducting focus group interview (FG I) w ith experts. Fourteen experts w ere interview ed w ith a sem i-structured questionnaire. From the interview data, six them es w ere identified for direction of healing tourism developm ent. The results of the study are as follow s; The area of rural healing tourism can be explained w ithin the fram ew ork of health tourism . As for the difference betw een rural tourism and healing tourism , rural tourism is expected to enhance physical and m ental relaxation, daily restoration, and health prom otion if rural tourism expects the understanding and experience of agricultural and rural life, and educational effect. The core com ponents of rural healing tourism w ere operators’ expertise, program w ith rurality, ecological environm ent, and storytelling. The findings of this paper im plicate the underlying dim ension of rural healing tourism from a experts’ perspective.
