A Study on the Low-Profile Antenna with Capacitive Load for an Aircraft

In this paper, a simplified low-profile antenna is designed, fabricated, and measured. Operating frequency of the antenna can be controlled by adjusting length of parasitic patch in both ends of the antenna. The fabricated antenna has a 13.48 MHz bandwidth and a gain over 7 dBi at 505 MHz. This is because the d of the fabricated structures is higher than d in reference papers, the beam width is determined to have narrowed instead of directivity becomes better. To obtain a wider beam width characteristics, and reduce the d . however, reducing the d changes the resonance frequency. The change in resonant frequency can be compensated by giving to match the desired band by adjusting the length of Lc.
