A Study on the Adaptive Feedforward Canceller Design for Periodic Disturbance by Describing Function

In this paper, presents a new method for the rejection of periodic disturbances with unknown frequency and its application to the real plant such as 2-motor dynamic system. We introduce a novel adaptive feedforward controller design method for the rejection of sinusoidal disturbances with unknown frequency by improving existing ones, such as adaptive algorithms by Bodson. That is, by applying DF (Describing Function) theory to the estimation block which is similar to the Bodson s,the amplitude and phase of the disturbance is exactly reconstructed with very short times. This is due to non-linear elements used in the adaptive control algorithm. This system only requires a single sensor located at the output of the plant for its operation. And we analyze the proposed algorithm mathematically, and show its appropriateness for repressing mechanical vibrations.
