Exploration of Teacher Compliment Effects during Music Activities in a Class of Five-Year-Olds

본 연구는 만 세반 음악활동과정에서 나타나는 유아교사의 칭찬효과에 관한 탐색을 목적으로 실시되 었다 연구목적의 달성을 위해 서울시 구에 위치한 어린이집의 만 세반 유아 명과 담임교사를 연구대상으로 선정한 후 주간 주 회 각 분씩의 음악활동을 관찰하였다 연구를 위해 음악활동 현장을 캠코더로 녹화 녹음하였으며 녹화파일을 전사한 자료와 함께 교사면담일지 수업메모노트와 음악활동계 획안을 종합하여 질적 연구의 과정을 거쳤다 연구결과 만 세반 음악활동과정에서 나타나는 유아교사의 칭찬효과는 유아의 음악활동 참여와 표현의 촉진 수업분위기의 전환 유아의 음악성취감 고취 유아 음악적 행동의 수정 교사와 유아를 하나 되게 하는 윤활유 로 나타났다 이러한 연구결과는 만 세반 음악활동과정에서 유아교사의 활동맥락에 적합한 칭찬이 효과적인 음악교수 학습 전략으로 활용되어야 함을 시사한다고 할 수 있다

The purpose of this study was to explore the compliment effects of a teacher during music activities in a class of five-year-olds. The subjects in this study were 15 preschoolers in a class for western age 5 and their homeroom teacher in a daycare center located in a district of Seoul. They were observed for 22 weeks, once a week, 40 minutes each, while they engaged in music activities. The music activities were recorded with a camcorder, and a qualitative research was implemented by piecing together the transcribed data of the recording file, a journal of interviews with the teacher, notes of the classes and activity plans. As a result, the compliments of the early childhood teacher produced the following effects during the music activities in the class of five-year-olds: Boosting the active participation of the preschoolers in the music activities and their expressions, shifting the class atmosphere, instilling a sense of musical accomplishment in the young children, correcting their musical behaviors, and making the teacher and the children become one as a social lubricant. The findings of the study suggest that during music activities in a class of five-year-olds, context-specific compliments by teachers should be adopted as one of effective music teaching and learning strategies.
