인간의 욕망과 행복에 대한 소고 (小考)

Desire and Happiness of Man

‘인간의 욕망과 행복’은 학문으로서의 철학에 국한된 주제가 아니라 모든 인간의 삶에 있어 중요한 문제이다. 이 문제에 대한 탐구와 이해는 진정한 의미의 실천철학적 접근이 필요하다. 욕망과 행복에 관하여 ‘삶의 자리’에서의 경험과 견해와 직관을 검토하고, 철학적 반성을 통해 보다 명료한 통찰에 도달하여 훌륭한 삶으로서의 행복을 누리도록 돕는 것이 탐구의 목적이 되어야 한다. 이러한 목적에 부합하는 방법론과 윤리학적 성찰을 우리는 아리스토텔레스의 윤리학에서 발견할 수 있다. 본고에서는 아리스토텔레스의 방법론과 그의 덕 윤리학에 영감을 얻어 행복에 있어 욕망의 역할과 위치에 대해 실천철학적 고찰을 하고자 한다. 그리고 여기에 덧붙어, 아리스토텔레스를 덕 윤리학이 지닌 현재성 에도 불구하고 현대인의 삶과 정서를 감안할 때, 비어있는 부분이 있다는 것을 지적하고자 한다. 이점은 우리시대에 ‘사랑의 철학’의 정립이 요구되는 이유이다.

This article investigates the role of desire for the human happiness from the view of aristotle s virtue ethics. ‘Desire and happiness of man’ ist not only a main theme in the field of ethics as a disciples of a academic philosophical research, but also a theme of life itself for all the people. Reflections on the experiences, common senses and intuitions from everyday life is to need. It comes from “ Sitz im Leben. ” For this purpose are the ethical method of Aristotle and his virtue ethics suitable. Then this article has a goal to examine the role of desire for the human happiness as eudaimonia and its place in the virtuous life. Aristotle‘s virtue ethics can be inspiration and guidance for this pursuit. In spite of the greatness of his legacy on this discussion, his “ethics of happiness” and “politics of friendship” is not enough for reader of our time. That’s the reason, why now is the time, to explore and reform a “philosophy of love.”
