This study aims to explore the implications of news translation teaching from a perspective of specialised translation and Language for Specific Purposes, In Translation Studies, specialised translation per se has not received due attention, while the translations of domain-specific texts, such as business texts and legal texts, have been much explored, mostly focusing on lexical aspects. Drawing on a case study undertaken at a postgraduate school in South Korea, this study demonstrates that an English-to-Korean news text translation is a specialised translation that requires efficient intercultural knowledge communication and that adopting such a perspective in the translator training system is of importance because it enhances learners’ perception of genre conventions.
