A study on the purpose of deriving data on the Design Considerations for Correction Facilities of Korea in the Perspective of FM

Today, correctional facilities are aiming beyond the purpose of detention. They aim for social adaptation of inmates and returning them to society for natural rehabilitation with local citizens. In Korea, however, due to the aging of buildings and the insufficient number of personnel, the purpose of correctional facilities is not being achieved. Therefore, the purpose of this research was to provide a foundation of basic data to be used for future correctional facilities establishments, by providing correctional facility design considerations - which includes a broader and a more generic facility management plan that includes not only simple detention purposes, but instead, include alleviating correctional facility personnels task loads and the increasing of inmates correction purposes. This research analyzed angles for consideration of correctional facilities through pilot studies and research the current facility situations through reference books and media. Also, this study researched the project cases of businesses that are in charge of correctional facility management services, thereby extracting the desired terms of the modern correctional facility concept.
