It is imperative for Japanese firms to keep up with global trends (e.g., IoE, IoB, AI, IoT, Industry 4.0, and Cloud) and adopt platform-based ecosystems fit for the IoT Age, in addition to building on their past Japanese-style IT system. A crucial goal is to set up innovative organizational systems able to link ICT capabilities to fulfill machinery and equipment requirements at the production floor level.
