메타포(metaphor) 분석을 통한 장애인 행복에 대한 대학생들의 인식

Exploring College Students’ Perception of Happiness of People with Disabilities Using Metaphor Analysis

본 연구의 목적은 대학생들이 장애인의 행복을 어떻게 인식하고 있는지를 메타포 분석을 통하여 알아보는 것이다. 연구 대상은 B시에 소재한 두 개 대학교에 재학 중인 학생들이며, 자료수집기간은 2017년 11월부터 2018년 4월까지이다. 400부의 설문지 중 353부를 회수하였으며, 메타포 분석에 적절하지 않은 33부를 제외하고 최종적으로 320부의 메타포를 분석하였다. 연구 결과는 첫째, 대학생들이 표현한 장애인 행복에 대한 메타포 320개는 용어와 의미가 유사한 대표 메타포 158개로 재분류되었다. 둘째, 대학생들이 제시한 장애인 행복에 대한 메타포는 그 의미의 유사성에 따라 7개의 주제로 범주화하였다: 동등한 권리를 가진 평범한 삶, 공동체를 위한 노력과 완성, 주체적 삶을 사는 가치 있는 존재, 인간답게 살기 위한 필수요소, 이루기 힘든 숙제, 어둠 속의 밝은 빛, 편안한 기쁨과 성장의 설렘. 이러한 결과가 갖는 의미에 대해 논의하고, 후속연구를 제언하였다.

The purpose of this study was to examine how college students perceive the happiness of the people with disabilities using metaphor analysis. The subjects of the study were the students enrolled in two universities in city B, and the period of data collection was from November 2017 to April 2018. 353 of 400 questionnaires were collected and 320 metaphors were finally analyzed. A total of 33 metaphors were eliminated from the study. The results of this study were as follows: First, 320 metaphors of the happiness of the people with disabilities produced by college students were reclassified into 158 surface metaphors with similar terms and meanings. Second, the metaphors concerning the happiness of the individuals with disabilities presented by college students were categorized into seven themes according to the similarity of meaning: (1) Ordinary life with equal rights, (2) Effort and completion for community, (3) Valuable existence of living self-determined life, (4) Essential elements for humanity, (5) Hard-to-finish homework, (6) Bright light in the dark, (7) Relaxed joy and sorrow of growth. The implications of these results were discussed, and subsequent research is proposed.
