This paper mainly deals with the perception of the Mongolian people on the Korean wave. This paper discusses on major findings of the results of the focus group discussions(FGD) through their impressions on Korea, Koreans, Korean culture and Korean products(food, clothing, electronics, etc). In addition, this paper introduces the perception of the Mongolian respondents on such topics as follows: Korean entertainments(movie, drama and K-pop), the positive and negative effects of the Korean wave in Mongolia, and the implications of the Korean wave. This research uses Focus Group Discussion(FGD) method with exploratory and open-ended questions. The FGD was conducted for four groups, which were carried out in Ulaanbaatar, the capital city of Mongolia. As a result of the FGDs in Mongolia, K-wave effects are found to be mostly in positive ways. One of the notable implications is that Korea itself is a good example of development for Mongolia’s future. On the other hand, there are also some negative effects as well. It is thus necessary to have a more in-depth understanding and cooperation for the better mutual benefits for both Korea and Mongolia.
