Purpose - In this study, paper examined the establishment, operation and understanding of smart factory readiness of SMEs and examined the process that lead such factors towards the enhancement of technology acceptance and competitiveness of enterprises. Design/methodology/approach - This study collected 310 survey data samples from small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises in Korea. The Structural Equation Modeling(SEM) was utilized in data analysis. Findings - Smart factory readiness has a significant impact on the expected corporate competitiveness of SMEs effectively. System construction, operation and understanding all had a significant impact on technology acceptance, leading to an improvement in corporate competitiveness. In particular, companies with high entrepreneurial orientation can build systems more smoothly, leading to more effective competitiveness than companies with low entrepreneurial orientation. Research Implications or Originality - Companies are facing difficulties due to barriers relative to technology introduction. In particular, there is a need for SMEs to introduce smart factories efficiently. Paper examined the construction, operation and understanding of smart factory readiness of SMEs and process which lead such factors towards enhancing technology acceptance and competitiveness.
