학교 운동장의 공간적 속성과 교육적 의미

Spatial Properties and Educational Meaning of School Playground

본 연구는 학교 운동장의 공간적 속성과 교육적 의미를 탐색하는 데 목적을 두었다. 이 연구는 2019년 3월부터 7월까지 연구자의 운동장 일지를 토대로 자료를 수집하였고, Spradley(1979)가 제안한 영역 분석과 분류 분석을 토대로 자료를 분석하였다. 본 연구에서는 학교 운동장의 속성은 ‘생활 속 움직임의 공간’, ‘운동 수행 실천의 공간’, ‘또래와의 관계 형성 및 소통의 공간’ 그리고 ‘여가를 즐기는 공간’으로 범주화되었다. ‘생활 속 움직임의 공간’은 통행의 장소, 놀이터 및 쉬는 장소 그리고 교사 없는 교육의 장소로 분류되었다. ‘운동 수행 실천의 공간’은 운동 수행 능력 향상의 장, 이해력 증진의 장 그리고 규범실천 능력 형성의 장으로 분류되었다. ‘또래와의 관계 형성 및 소통의 공간’에서는 의견 교환의 장, 친 사회적 상호작용의 장이 도출되었다. ‘여가를 즐기는 공간’은 축구 경기를 하는 장소, 규범으로부터 자유로운 장소, 자연물과 조우하는 장소 등으로 범주화되었다. 그리고 학교 운동장의 속성에 내재한 교육적 의미는 ‘성장과 삶의 질 확장’, ‘자신감과 자율성의 발휘’, ‘사회적 상호작용의 터(teo)’ 등으로 도출되었다.

The purpose of this study was to explored the spatial properties and educational meaning of school playground. This study collected data from the researcher s playground logbook from March to July 2019 and analyzed the data based on the analysis of spots and classification analysis proposed by Spradley (1979). In this study, we categorized the characteristics of the school playground as space of movement in life , space of exercise practice , space for communication with peers, and space for enjoying leisure . The space of movement in life consisted of a place of passage, a playground and a place of rest, and a place of education without teachers. The space of practice for exercise consisted of a place to improve exercise performance, a place to promote comprehension, and a place to form ability to practice norms. In the space for forming relationships and communication with peers , the place of exchange of opinions and the field of pro-social interaction were derived. The space to enjoy leisure was categorized as a place to play football, a place free from norms, and a place to encounter natural objects. In addition, the educational significance inherent in the properties of the school playground was categorized by the expansion of growth and quality of life, the demonstration of self confidence and autonomy, and the teo of social interaction.
