말이 없는 증명(Proof Without Words)에 대한 연구 동향

Research Trends on Proof Without Words : Focused on the Journals of the Mathematical Association of America

본 연구는 2009년부터 2018년까지 Mathematical Association of America에서 발행하는 The College Mathematics Journal과 Mathematics Magazine에 게재된 Proof Without Words(이하 PWWs)의 연구 동향을 분석하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 최근 10년간 141편의 PWWs가 발표되었으며, 그 중 103편은 최근 5년간 발표되었다. 이는 최근 수학과 수학교육에서 PWWs의 필요성이 강조되는 것과 일맥상통한 결과이다. 둘째, 수학의 전 영역에 걸쳐 새로운 PWWs가 연구되었다. 셋째, 최근 10년간 연구된 PWWs를 2015개정 교육과정에 맞추어 분류해보면, 기하를 제외한 전 과목에 관한 PWWs가 연구되었다. 이는 다양한 과목에서 PWWs를 활용하여 수학 교육이 이루어질 수 있음을 의미한다.

This study analyzed trends in the study of Proof Without Words (PWWs) published in The College Mathematics Journal and the Mathematics Magazine published by the Mathematical Association of America over the last decade. The results of the study are as follows. First, 141 PWWs have been published in the last 10 years, 103 of which have been published in the last five years. This is in line with the recent emphasis on the need for PWWs in math and math education. Second, new PWWs have been studied throughout all areas of mathematics. Third, if PWWs which have been studied over the last 10 years are classified according to the 2015 revised curriculum, PWWs for all subjects except geometry have been studied. This means that math education can be achieved by utilizing PWWs in various subjects.
