중ㆍ고등학생의 다문화수용성 영향 요인

A Study of Factors Influencing Middle and High School Students Multicultural Acceptance : Longitudinal Analysis of 8th Grade to 11th Grade

본 연구에서는 중학교 2학년부터 고등학교 2학년까지 청소년의 다문화수용성에 어떠한 요인이 영향을 미치는지 종단적으로 조사하였다. 한국아동ㆍ청소년패널조사(Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey: KCYPS)를 활용하였으며(N = 2,280), 잠재성장모형(Latent Growth Modeling) 방법을 사용하여 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 첫째, 중2 시점부터 고2 시점까지 우리나라 청소년의 다문화수용성은 계속 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 사회적 관계 변수 중에서 부모와의 관계는 다문화수용성의 초기값에 유의미한 영향을 미쳤으며, 또래와의 관계 및 교사와의 관계는 중2 시점에서 고2 시점까지 모든 시점의 다문화수용성에 대해 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 셋째, 사회과 학업성취는 고2 시점을 제외한 중2 시점부터 고1 시점까지의 다문화수용성에 대해 유의미한 영향을 미쳤다. 넷째, 청소년의 해외방문 경험은 모든 시점의 다문화수용성에 대해 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 다섯째, 청소년의 성별이 다문화수용성의 초기값과 변화율에 유의미한 영향을 미치고 있었다. 본 연구의 결과는 청소년의 다문화수용성을 이해하기 위해서는 청소년의 다문화수용성에 지속적으로 영향을 미치는 요인들을 종합적으로 고려해야 함을 시사하며, 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 청소년의 다문화수용성을 효과적으로 함양하기 위한 방안을 제시하고자 하였다. 청소년의 다문화수용성 함양을 위한 실천적 방안을 모색하는 노력은 우리 사회가 문화적 다양성에 대한 이해와 수용을 기초로 하여 더욱 민주적인 사회로 발전하도록 하고, 미래 청소년들이 문화적 차이를 긍정할 수 있는 시민으로 성장하는데 밑거름이 될 것이다.

This study examined the factors affecting the adolescents multicultural acceptance from 8th grade to 11th grade. A latent growth model analysis was performed using the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey(KCYPS) data. The results are as follows. First, adolescents multicultural acceptance increased from 8th grade to 11th grade continuously. Second, the relationship with parents affected intercept value of multicultural acceptance, relationships with peer and teachers had a positive impact on multicultural acceptance for all time points from 8th grade to 11th grade. Third, student achievement in social studies had a significant influence on multicultural acceptance from 8th grade to 10th grade. Fourth, previous visit experience for overseas had a positive effect on multicultural acceptance for all time points. Fifth, the gender of adolescents had a significant effect on intercept value of multicultural acceptance and slope value of multicultural acceptance.
