埼玉県中部の俳額に関する一考察

A Study of Haigaku in the Central Part of Saitama Prefecture

本研究の目的は、埼玉県中部の俳額資料を市町村の文化財を担当する部 署などを通じて収集し、集計と分析を行い、俳額の現状とそこから読み取 れる俳額の特性を考察することにある。俳額とは、扁額のような板に俳句 を書し、神社や仏閣に奉納するという、近世から近代にかけて全国的に盛 んとなった大衆文化である。埼玉県中部には俳額が全部で53枚(江戸18 枚․明治20枚․大正6枚․昭和6枚․平成0枚․不明3枚)あり、そのうち解 読された俳額は13枚である。 奉納の趣旨を類型別に分類したところ、法楽俳額が10枚あり、そのうち 2枚は竣工型記念俳額․神仏に繭の豊収を祈願する祈願俳額と重複してい た。また宗匠として立机したことを祝う慶事型記念俳額が2枚あり、埼玉 県中部に特徴的な俳額である。奉納する際の収支に関して、マイナスにな れば催主が負担することが明らかになった。俳額奉納は、主催者側の経済 利益のためではなかった。地域の人々との協同作業である。われわれ先祖 の感性を育て、地域の協力体制強化と文化水準向上をはかる有効な文化コ ンテンツであったことだろう。

The purpose of this study is to collect and analyze the historical materials of Haigaku in the Central part of Saitama Prefecture through the administration of Cultural Properties Protection of city and town, and examine the present state and characteristics of the Haigaku in the Central part of Saitama Prefecture. The Haigaku is a large board on which haikus were written and is dedicated to temples and shrines. They are similar across Japan and can be grasped in a typical way. There are 53 Haigaku which exist in the central part of Saitama. To arrange them in a chronological order, 18 were dedicated in the Edo period, 20 in the Meiji period, 6 in the Taisho period, 6 in the Showa period, and 0 in Heisei period, with 3 being from unknown periods; among these, 13 are accredited. When we classified the purpose of dedication by type, we found that there were 10 Horaku, which were dedicated to God(Kami) or Buddha and made them rejoice, 2 of them overlapping with the memorial Haigaku and the prayer (for the rich harvest of cocoons) Haigaku. There are also 2 congratulatory haigaku that celebrate inauguration as a Haiku master, which are characteristic of Central Saitama.
