Comparison of the Need for Anti-Aging Services and the Performance of Health Promotion Behavior by Age

  • 93

This study compares the perceptions concerning anti-aging, the need for anti-aging services, the performance of health promotion behaviors, and examines the factors influencing the need for anti-aging services. In June 2019, a survey was conducted among adults from their 20s to their 50s in the Gyeongnam region. 396 responses were used for analysis. The research results are as follows. First, the overall score on the interest of anti-aging was 3.39(out of 5), and the score for anti-aging efforts was 2.90, which was highest for the respondents in their 40s and 50s. For those in their 20s, the anticipation of anti-aging efforts was highest. Second, the overall score of the need for anti-aging service was 3.74, and there was a significant difference in exercise management by age(p<0.01). Third, according to the detailed needs of anti-aging services by age, regular lifestyle habits(56.6%) in stress management, flexibility exercise(28.9%) and walking(23.1%) in exercise management, balanced diet intake(37.8%) and dietary correction(24.4%) in nutrition management, lifestyle-related culturing(37.3%) and posture·body correction(35.8%) in medical·orthodontic·rehabilitation management, skin care(40.1%) in the beauty management were the highest. Fourth, the overall score for the performance of health promotion behaviors was 2.47(out of 4), and the interpersonal relationship and self-realization scores were similarly high, while the health responsibility score was lower. Lastly, the interest in anti-aging and anti-aging efforts had a 30.5% explanatory power(F=87.278, p<0.001) based on the need for anti-aging services. The higher results lead to more efforts for anti-aging, and the greater need for anti-aging services.
