최치원의 풍류사상이 현대를 사는 우리들에게 주는 시사점

최치원 선생은 「난랑비서」에서 “우리나라에 현묘한 도가 있다. 이를 ‘풍류’라고 한다. 가르침을 세운 근원은 ‘선사’에 자세히 실려 있거니와, 내용은 곧 삼교를 ‘포함’한 것으로서, 뭇 생명체를 접촉하여 변화시킨다.”고 하여 ‘풍류’에 대해서 서술하였다. ‘풍류’에 대한 기록은 신라대의 「진감선사비문」을 비롯하여 선생이 남긴 비문들의 여러 곳에서 나타난다. 그의 사상은 삼교일치적인 성격을 띄고 있다고 평가되어 왔는데, 그가 남긴 비문인 「진감선사비문」에서, ‘대저 도는 사람 으로부터 멀리 있지 않고, 사람은 나라에 따라 차이가 없다. 이런 까닭에, 우리나라 사람들이 불법이나 유학을 배우는 것은 필연적이다’라고 하여 ‘풍류’가 삼교를 아우를 수 있는 사상임을 확실히 하고 있다. 본고에서는 그가 말하는 ‘풍류’사상이 신라시대 이전부터 우리 고유의 전통의 사상이 확실히 존재했음을 밝혀주는 것인 동시에 세계인들이 어울려 함께 살아가며 문화적인 그리고 종교적인 충돌의 상황에 직면한 지구촌 시대를 살아가는 우리들에게 인류의 보편성과 문화 및 종교의 보편성에 대한 영감을 주고 있음을 확인하고자 하였다.

Choi Chi-won said in his Nan-lang-bi-seo : There is a wise and mysterious truth in our country. This is called a Poongryoo. ‘The origin of the teachings about it is detailed in Seon-sa, the contents are involved in the three religions, and it touches and changes every life.’ he explained. Records of poongryoo were shown in various places of the inscription left by the teacher, including the Jin-gam-seon-sa-bi-mun of Silla Dynasty. His ideas have been assessed to be the three-religions’ unity, and he said in the inscription ‘Jin-gam-seon-sa-bi-mun’, the truth is not far from a person, and a person does not differ from country to country. For this reason, it is inevitable for Koreans to learn illegality or Confucianism. So, he makes sure that poongryoo is the idea that can encompass the three religions. In this paper, we wanted to confirm that his idea of poongryoo clearly had existed before the Silla Dynasty and that it inspires us to live in a global village era where people around the world live together and are faced with cultural and religious conflicts.
