A Plan to Activate Recruitment to Control the Decrease in the Population of School-Aged Children — A Case Study of D-Collegen

The decreasing of birthrate is one of the reasons caused demographic changes to the aging society. Due to the rapid decreasing of school-age population, lots of universities and colleges try to reform their structure such as creation of new major by combining two or three similar majors to strengthen the competitiveness. In this paper, the recruiting rate of D-college for the last three years was analyzed to suggest a plan to overcome a difficulty of college recruitment. We suggest the free-semester system that is operated for the first semester with similar subjects of machinery/metal and electric/electronic majors, respectively, to prevent dropout and to provide the chance to select the major for the student.
