Purpose - The purpose of this research is to examine the recognition on wellness tourism activities in Jeju based on spatial classifications such as natural healing space, non-medical healing space and semi-medical healing space by the degree of medical interference. Based on the results of these surveys, this study presents wellness activities to promote wellness tourism in the Jeju Special Self - Governing Province. Research, design, data and methodology - The degree of the recognition on wellness tourism activities has been investigated with a structured survey. And then, the degrees of importance and satisfaction on activities have been respectively analysed. For this purpose, the survey was conducted for domestic tourists visiting Jeju Island using structured questionnaires for domestic tourists visiting Jeju Island. In the questionnaire survey, a one - on - one interview was conducted with a tour guide who had a professional interviewer who was aware of the contents of the questionnaire through the pre - training on the meaning of the questionnaire. A total of 255 questionnaires were collected and analyzed as basic data. Basically, this study reclassified the wellness activities suggested by Kim (2018) and conducted a survey in connection with them. Results - Wellness tourism activities in Jeju are highly demanded. The results showed that the highest level of importance for each wellness activity was forest, traditional main dish, hiking. Wellness activities were followed by respiration, and postpartum care. The satisfaction level of wellness activities was highest in the order of forest, and hiking. The most satisfactory wellness activities Respiration, postpartum care center, and hydrotherapy. The degrees of importance and satisfaction on wellness tourism activities have been also estimated 82% and 72% high respectively. In particular, among the wellness tourism activities, hiking activities, forest activities, and food service in natural healing space have been measured significantly. Conclusions - The efforts of resource development and systematic promotion on wellness tourism activities are urgently needed for stimulus measures because of the high demand . Thus, it is time to establish an institutional basis and establish a dedicated administrative organization. In addition, resource development reflect regional characteristics are strongly needed.
