개혁교회의 직분제도와 정치질서 발전에 대한 역사적 고찰: 칼빈의 ‘제네바 교회법규서’(1541)로부터 ‘도르트 개혁교회 질서’(1619)까지

A Historical Study on the Development of the Church Organization and Discipline in the Reformed Church: From Calvin’s ‘Ecclesiastical Ordinance’(1541) to ‘The Church Order of Dort’(1619)

본 논문은 16세기 종교개혁운동의 여러 핵심적인 요소들 가운데서 특히 ‘교회의 개혁’ 분야에 있어 ‘직분제도와 정치질서의 개혁’에 대한 개혁교회의 이해와 실천의 발전 역사를 중심으로 그 중요한 원칙들과 특징적인 요소들을 깊이 있게 분석하며 살펴 본 것이다. 그러한 연구 분석을 위하여 집중적으로 살펴 본 중요한 자료들은 먼저 개혁교회의 직분제도와 정치질서의 근간이 된 것으로서 칼빈(John Calvin, 1509-1564)이 제네바 교회를 개혁하면서 작성한 『제네바 교회법규 제안 서』(Projet D’ordonnances Ecclésiastique, 1541)와 그것을 수정 보완 하여 완성한 『제네바 교회법규서』(Les Ordonnances Ecclésiastique, 1561), 그리고 이 주제와 관련된 그의 주요 저작들이다. 다음으로 그러한 칼빈의 신학사상과 “제네바 교회법규서”의 모범에 따라 작성되었으나또 다른 중요한 발전적인 모습들을 보이는 프랑스와 네덜란드 개혁교회에 서의 직분제도와 정치질서가 어떻게 형성되었는지를 『프랑스 신앙고백 서』(The French Confession of Faith, 1559/1571)와 『프랑스 개혁교 회의 교회치리서』(Discipline ecclesiastiques des eglise reformees de France, 1559), 그리고 『벨직 신앙고백서』(The Belgic Confession, 1561)와 더불어 가장 완성된 형태로 개혁교회 교회법의 표준이 된 『도르트 개혁교회 질서』(The Church Order of Dort, 1619)를 중심으로 차례로 분석하며 살펴보았다. 또한 본 연구의 마지막 결론과 적용으로써, 그러한 개혁교회 특유의 직분제도와 정치질서에 나타나는 주요 원리들과 특징들을 통하여 오늘날 한국장로교회의 직분제도의 중요한 문제점들과 개선방 향에 대하여 간략하지만 집중적으로 모색하며 대안을 제시하여 보았다.

This study especially dealt with the history of development on the ‘Church Organization and Discipline’ of the Reformed church after the 16th century Protestant Reformation. For the study and analysis, first of all, the starting point is John Calvin’s ‘Projet D’ordonnances Ecclésiastique’(1541) and its revised version, ‘Les Ordonnances Ecclésiastique’(1561), and related his major theological works. And then, we also analyzed ‘The French Confession of Faith’(1559/1571) and ‘Discipline ecclesiastiques des eglise reformees de France’(1559) of the Reformed church in France. Finally, we look at close to ‘The Belgic Confession’(1561) and ‘The Church Order of Dort’(1619), which is the most completed form of church order for the Reformed church. In doing so, as an application of the study, I tried to find out some important improvements for the church organization and politics of the Presbyterian church in Korea.
