신문을 활용한 토의활동이 만 5세 유아의 리더십과 과학적 탐구능력에 미치는 효과

The effect of discussion activities using newspapers on the leadership and scientific process skills of children

본 연구는 신문을 활용한 토의 활동이 만 5세 유아의 리더십과 과학적 탐구능력에 어떠한 영향을 미치는가를 알아보는데 그 목적이 있다. 연구대상은 서울시 K구에 위치한 C유치원에 다니는 만 5세 유아 44명(실험집단 24명, 통제집단 20명)이었으며, 실험집단을 대상으로 2019년 5월 15일부터 2019년 7월 15일까지 9주 동안 주 2회씩총 18회에 걸쳐 실시하였다. 신문을 활용한 토의 활동을 실시하기 전과 후에 리더십, 과학적 탐구능력 검사를 실시하였으며 수집된 자료는 SPSS 22.0 프로그램을 활용하 여 일원공변량분석(ANCOVA)으로 통계처리하였다. 연구결과 신문을 활용한 토의활동에 참여한 실험집단의 유아가 통제집단의 유아보다 리더십 및 과학적 탐구능력 점수가 통계적으로 유의미하게 향상된 것으로 나타났다. 이는 신문을 활용한 토의활동이 만 5세 유아들의 리더십과 과학적 탐구능력을 증진시키는데 긍정적인 교육 방법임을 시사한다.

The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of discussion activities using newspapers on the leadership and scientific process skills of children. The participants of the research were 44 children of age 5 who attend C kindergarten in K-gu, Seoul. The experimental group engaged in the discussion activities using newspapers for 18 imes over a period of 9 weeks. Collected data were statistically treated in ANCOVA with the SPSS 22.0 Windows program. The results of this study show that the discussion activities using newspapers is a positive teaching method in promoting leadership and scientific process skills of children.
