The Study on the Effect of Self-conception on Anti-bias Recognition

본 연구는 아동의 자아개념이 반편견 인식에 미치는 영향을 밝혀 올바른 자아개념을 통해 반편견 인식을 제고하는 교육적 방법을 모색하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 위와 같은 연구목적을 해결하기 위해서 초등학교 3, 4학년 학생 173명을 대상으로 설문조 사를 실시하였으며, 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 성별에 따른 아동의 자아개념과 반편견 인식은 둘 다 여학생이 남학생에 비해 높게 나타났으며 반편견 인식은 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 있었다. 둘째, 자아개념의 하위변인 중 사회적, 인성적, 학업적자아개념은 반편견의 하위변인인 성, 능력(장애), 문화(인종), 계층 편견에 모두 의미있는 정적 상관관계를 나타났다. 셋째, 아동의 자아개념이 반편견 인식에 미치는 영향을 분석한 결과, 자아개념은 반편견 인식을 약 22.1% 설명하였다. 특히, 학업적 자아개념은 반편견 인식에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타나 학업적 자아개념이 높을수록 반편견 인식이 높아질 수 있음을 짐작해 볼 수 있다. 따라서 자아개념이 반편견 인식 향상교육을 위한 요인이 될 수 있으며, 긍정적인 학업적 자아개념을 활용한 반편견 인식 개선을 위한 교육적 실천이 필요함을 알 수 있다.

This study is to analyze the effect of self-conception on anti-bias recognition and to provide educational methods encouraging the anti-bias recognition with positive self-conception. To achieve the purpose of such studies, a survey for third and fourth grade of total 173 elementary school students was conducted. The results are as follows; First, both self-conception and anti-bias recognition of children were shown higher in the case of girls than boys. The result of anti-bias recognition had a statistically significant difference. Second, among the sub variables of self-conception, in parts of social, affective and academic of it both showed positive correlation on a bias towards gender, ability(disability), different culture(human race) and social class. Third, the result of the effect of self-conception on anti-bias cognition of children has proved almost 22.1% of correlation. Through the study one of the important confirmations was that we found positive influence of academic self-conception on anti-bias recognition. In conclusion, self-conception might be a significant factor to anti-bias recognition, which means we need to have passion for anti-bias education at the same time with positive academic self-conception.
