Objectives:ThisstudywasconductedtoinvestigatewhetherHordeiFructusGerminatus ismoreeffectiveandsafethanestrogenmedicationorconservativetreatmentinstopping lactationwithoutdiscomfort. Methods: 6electronicdatabasewereused tosearch forrandomized controlled trials (RCTs)andcontrolledclinicaltrials(CCTs)publishedbeforeSeptember2018.Andthen, selectedliteratureswerecollectedandanalyzed in orderofrecentpublication year.The qualityofincludedstudieswasassessedbyRiskofbias(RoB)toolandRiskofBias AssessmenttoolforNon-randomizedStudy(RoBANS). Results:6RCTswith595womenand4CCTswith2,852womenwereincludedfor analysis.4outof10studiescomparedtherapeuticeffectsofHordeiFructusGerminatusto estrogenmedication,andtheoverallefficacyoftreatmentgroupwassignificantlyhigher thanthatofcontrolgroup(p<0.05).Inaddition,thesafetyofHordeiFructusGerminatus treatmentgroupwasremarkablyhigh,andtherewasnoseriousadverseeventsreported. Thequalityofincludedstudieswasgenerallyunclearorlow. Conclusion:Maltcanbeeffectiveandsafeoptionfordelactationwithoutpainordiscomfort. However,additionalwell-designed controlled clinicalstudiesneed to be performed to establishafundamentalclinicalapproach.
