역사수업 방법의 측면에서 본 역사수업 성찰 가능성 탐색

Reflection on Methods and Representation of Teaching History

본 논문은 역사수업 방법에 대한 기존의 논의를 검토하고, 이를 통해 도출할 수 있는 역사수업 방법 성찰의 가능성에 대해 탐색하고자 하였다. 특히 범교과적 수업 성찰의 영역보다는 역사교과에 초점을 맞추어 수업 성찰을 할 수 있도록 하는 데에 주안점을 두었다. 그 가운데서도 수업의 내용뿐 아니라 방법의 측면에서도 역사교과로서의 특징을 살릴 수 있도록 역사수업을 성찰할 때 유의미하고 적용 가능한 질문들을 제안하였다. 역사교사로서, 역사수업이기 때문에 해야 하고, 할 수 있는 수업 성찰은 역사교사의 성장과 자기 수업 변화를 위한 유의미한 시도라고 할 수 있다. 따라서 특정 수업 방법의 장단점이나 유의점을 제시하기보다는, 역사교사가 자신의 역사수업을 성찰할 때 역사수업 방법의 측면을 어떠한 물음으로 성찰할 수 있을지에 대한 세 가지 측면 ― 역사교사의 교육적 의도, 역사 텍스트의 특징, 역사교사의 설명 방식 ― 을 구체적 사례와 함께 다루었다. 이를 통해 본 논문은 교육적 의도로서의 역사교육관과 가르칠 내용으로서의 역사적 사실이 수업 방법과도 일관성을 가지는지에 대한 성찰이 필요하다는 점, 수업에서 교재로 활용하고자 하는 역사 텍스트에 대해서 저자, 출처, 작성 배경 등에 대한 이해를 충분히 강조하고 반영하였는지를 성찰할 필요가 있다는 점, 수업에서 과거와 현재의 사실을 유추의 방식으로 설명하고자 할 때는 과거 사실의 구체적 맥락을 잘 드러내는 것에 유의할 필요가 있다는 점을 제기하였다.

This paper examines the existing discussion on the history teaching method, and explores the possibility of reflection on the history teaching method. In particular, the emphasis was on the reflection of lessons specific to history subjects. Among them, in order to reflect not only on the contents of teaching but also on the method, the questions which were meaningful and applicable to the history teacher were suggested. As a history teacher, reflection, which must be done as a history class, is a significant attempt to increase the professional development of history teachers. Therefore, rather than presenting the pros and cons of the specific teaching method, this paper deals with three aspects of the method of teaching history with specific examples. Three aspects are the educational intention of the history teacher, the characteristics of the historical text, and the way of history teacher explanation. Through this, it needs to be emphasized enough to reflect on whether the educational intention of the history teacher, the contents of the lessons, and the teaching methods are consistent. And it is important for students to understand of the author, the source, the background of the historical text. Also, it is necessary to pay attention to revealing the concrete context of past facts when trying to explain it as an analogy that connects past and present facts in classroom.
