박물관 교육프로그램 참여자의 경험 형성과정에 관한 연구

A Research on the process of meaning making of pupils in the museum sessions

본 연구의 목적은 박물관 교육프로그램 참여자의 경험 형성과정을 분석함과 동시에 이를 바탕으로 박물관 교육프로그램을 기획함에 있어 어떠한 구성요소들이 필요한지를 살펴보는데 있다. 이를 위해 부산박물관 어린이 교육프로그램 ‘제2회 초등역사아카데미’ 4차시 과정을 모두 수료한 참여자들의 인터뷰를 근거이론을 적용하여 다음과 같은 결론을 이끌어 냈다. 먼저 참여자들의 기억에 남는 박물관 교육프로그램 활동을 위한 기본 조건은 실물을 활용한 박물관에서 이루어지는 그룹 참여형 체험이라는 것이다. 두 번째로 참여자들에게 제공된 다양한 범주의 체험활동은 참여자들로 하여금 즐거운 경험을 만들게 하고 이것은 참여자들의 기억에 남는 박물관 교육프로그램 활동을 만들어 주는 주요한 현상이 되기 때문에, 박물관들은 틀에 박힌 형태의 수업 과정이 아닌 참여자들에게 다각도로 접근할 수 있는 체험 방법을 고안하여야 한다. 세 번째로 다채로운 활동과 그 룹 참여형 체험을 유도하는데 있어서 양질의 전문적인 교육 강사가 학습을 조력해 주어야 하며, 이때 이들이 가장 중요시 해야 할 부분은 바로 그룹 내의 분위기 조성이다. 마지막으로 이러한 모든 조건과 현상, 작용들로 인해 교육프로그램 참여자들은 교육프로그램의 주목적인 특수한 주제에 대한 학습뿐만 아니라 타인과의 관계 개선, 더 나은 학교생활을 위한 다짐, 개인적인 노력에 대한 인식 변화를 보일 수 있었다. 또한 역사에 대한 관심 및 가족 간의 대화 증진과 같은 효과를 볼 수 있음을 확인하였다. 따라서 이번 연구를 토대로 박물관 교육프로그램 참여자의 경험을 이해할 수 있는 더욱 발전된 연구가 진행 될 수 있기를 고대한다.

In order to understand the meaning making by the attendants in museum sessions, this research mainly highlights on the analysis of interviews of pupils and then suggests proper formats of museum education programs. The programmes that held in a local museum in Busan, seven pupils joined the interview after 4 times of museum session experiences and the theoretical background for this research is based on the grounded theory to understand the process of meaning making. First of all, pupils seem to have great experience of museum sessions when they were taught by the museum objects with group formation. Secondly, various experiences of attendants which are based on the primary curriculum were useful for students to have joyful and interesting museum experiences. In the meantime, museums need to offer versatile experiences for the pupils which brings positive museum memory. Third, high quality museum teachers are definitely needed in order to support the students’ happy experience of the museum session, and what the most crucial ability for museum teachers was the atmosphere of student groups. Finally it seems that students would not only learn about knowledge which was the purpose of the session but have changed attitude towards themselves in terms of self-esteemed attitude. Furthermore, pupils tend to have positive mind about school classes and they believed that relationship with their family were affirmatively changed which was acknowledged as a positive experience of museum session.
