임고서원 소장 한두공 제작(1735년) 정몽주 영정 소개

이 글은 훼손이 심한 1735년에 韓斗拱이 이모한 임고서원 소장 <을묘년 포은 정몽주 영정>을 중심으로 정몽주 영정에 대한 전체적인 시기별 기록과 이모현황을 소개하는 글이다. 정몽주 영정은 고려시대부터 조선시대까지 20여개의 기록이 전하고, 유존하는 작품 수도 10개가 넘을 정도로 조선시대 정몽주 숭모현상을 보여주는 사례다. 정몽주의 초상화는 고려시대 入閣圖形 이후 조선시대 신원이 복원되면서부터 16세기, 17세기, 18세기, 19-20세기에 걸쳐 솜씨 좋은 여러 유명한 화가에 의해 계속해서 제작되었다. 때문에 초상화 작품 자체가 희귀한 조선 전기에 제작된 정몽주 영정 2점은 현재 보물 제1110-1호와 제1110-2호로 지정되어 있고, 최근 임고서원 소장 한두공이 제작한(1735년) 정몽주 영정이 그 가치를 인정받아 경상북도 유형문화재 제537호로 지정되었다. 그럼에도 불구하고 정몽주 영정에 대한 깊이 있는 연구는 진행되지 않고 있다. 그리고 충렬서원 소장 1751년 張敬周(1710-?)가 제작한 정몽주 영정은 경기도유형문화재 제9호로 지정되었으나 현재는 도난되어(도난일자: 1998.3.17.) 그 소재를 알 수 없다. 이에 본고에서는 정몽주 영정 제작에 대한 문헌기록을 통해 자료를 수집하고, 영정의 유형을 고찰하여 1차 사료로 삼아 한국미술사에 있어 정몽주 영정이 차지하는 의미와 가치를 밝혀, 유존하는 정몽주 영정의 안전과 보존을 위한 근거 자료로 삼고자 한다. 내용의 분량과 논리적 전개상 본 호에서는 1차적으로 정몽주 영정의 유형과 훼손이 심한 한두공(1735년) 제작 <을묘년 포은 정몽주 영정>을 소개하고, 영정을 통한 정치사적, 미술사적 성격과 의미에 대해서는 다음 과제로 남기고자 한다.

The article explores the value and meaning of the portraits of Jeong Mong-ju in the area of portraits of the Joseon Dynasty. The portrait of Jeong Mong-ju is carried by 20 records from the Goryeo Dynasty to the Joseon Dynasty. And there are more than 10 works left. It represents a worship of Jeong Mong-ju during the Joseon Dynasty. The portraits of Jeong Mong-ju continued to be produced by professional painters or painters who painted well since the Goryeo Dynasty. There are also many works that have outstanding workmanship. It also retains the style of portraits of the times. Therefore, two portraits of Jeong Mong-ju, made in the early Joseon Dynasty, are currently designated as national treasures.In this paper, the data were first collected through the literature records of the portraits of Jeong Mong-ju. The second introduced a portrait of Jeong Mong-ju painted by Han Doo-gong in 1735. The painting is very damaged, but it reflects the painting style of portraits from the late Joseon Dynasty. Then, an obscurity artist from the Gyeongsan area learned about Han Doo-gong. He is a very talented artist. I will study the political history and the nature and meaning of art history through the portrait of Jeong Mong-ju next time.
