이 논문의 목적은 「열녀함양박씨전(烈女咸陽朴氏傳)」의 글쓰기 방식을 찾아보려는데 있다. 「열녀함양박씨전(烈女咸陽朴氏傳)」는 연암 박지원이 쓴 ‘열녀전’의 일종으로서 여러가지 측면에서 문제를 내포한 작품으로 여겨지고 있다. 많은 문제가운데 본고는 이 작품에 나타난 글쓰기 방식에 초점을 두고 논의를 진행한다. 글쓰기 방식의 관점에서 보았을 때 이 작품의 작자의 글쓰기에 대한 고민과 탐색이 그대로 드러난다는 점에서 특이하고 중요하다. 작품의 제목을 붙이기 위해서 다양한 고민을 하고 있으며 작품이 하나로 고정되지 않고 여러 가지로 변화되는 양상을 작품의 구성으로 보여주고 있다. 이 작품은 의견을 제시하는 작자의 태도가 작품에 들어가 있기는 한데 이가 서사와 결합함으로써 작품의 기본적인 틀로써 기능하면서 작품의 저변을 차지하고 있다. 이는 글 쓰는 과정에서 부딪쳤던 작자의 고민이 글쓰기를 행할 때 어떤 방식의 해결책을 찾는가와 연결되어 있는 문제다. 해결책을 박지원은 의견을 내세우지 않고 서사를 제시하여 이에서 판단하기를 바라고 있다. 이런 작자의 고민은 서사화를 위한 사건의 중요한 부분을 구성하는 방식과도 연결되어 전혀 다른 두 가지 사건을 한 작품에 나란히 넣어놓는 방식으로도 활용하기도 한다. 성격이 다른 두 가지 사건을 한 작품에 나란히 배열하는 병렬의 방식으로 작자의 의견이 독자들에게 어떤 방식으로 전달될 수 있는지를 작품 자체에서 시험하고 있다. 또한 사건을 결구하는 방식에서 작자는 관찰자로서나 기록자의 역할을 맡으려고 하며 초점화를 통해 자신이 사건에 개입하는 양상을 드러내고 있다. 이런 초점화는 작자가 등장인물에 대해서 외부자로서만 존재하려 하며 내부자로 관여하지 않으려는 의도를 인물의 객관성을 확보하는 방식으로 해결하고 있음을 의미한다.

The purpose of this paper is to find out the way of writing of “Yeleohamyangparksigeon(烈女咸陽朴氏傳)”. “Yeleohamyangparksigeon(烈女咸陽朴氏傳)” is a kind of Park, Ji-won(박지원), is a kind of ‘yeolnyeojeon’ (열녀전) which is regarded as a work containing many problems in various aspects It is considered to be a work containing problems in terms of branches. Among many problems, this article focuses on the way of writing in this work. From the point of view of the writing method, it is unusual and important that the anxieties and searches of the writer of this work are revealed. In order to attach the title of the work, various anxieties are being made. This work is based on the attitude of the author who gives opinions, but it combines with the narrative and functions as the basic framework of the work and occupies the bottom of the work. This is a problem connected with how the writer’s anxieties encountered in the process of writing find a solution when writing. Park Ji-won hopes to present the narrative without judging it and to judge it. The anxieties of these authors are also used in a way that puts two completely different events side by side in a way that is linked to the way of forming an important part of the episode for the narrative. In a parallel way, arranging two events of different personality side by side in one piece, the work itself is testing how the opinion of the author can be conveyed to the reader. Also, in the way of making a case, the author tries to take on the role of observer or recorder and reveals the aspect of his involvement in the case through focusing. This focalization means that the author tries to exist only as an outsider with respect to the character and solves the intention not to be involved as an insider by securing the objectivity of the person.
