학교에서의 EBS 수능영어교재 활용 실태 및 개선방안

A study on the utilization and improvement of EBS English textbooks for CSAT in schools

70% of lectures and textbooks from the Education Broadcasting System (EBS) is reflected in the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) to reduce the expense of private education bringing huge change in the way that students and teachers prepare for assessments. The more students taking the lectures and the EBS textbooks;the more it becomes essential. The EBS books are replacing school English textbooks and some classes never use the prescribed books from the curriculum. This study analyzes the consistency of English questions between EBS books and CSAT 2014. The purpose of the study is to analyze the actual results of using EBS English books in schools by surveying students;parents;and teachers and suggesting improvements. Under connection policy;the students and parents prefer using EBS books to textbooks in classes. It is found that 63.9% of English teachers said they were already utilizing EBS books in their schools. The study proposes the need for the curriculum to strengthen the role of textbooks;thereby mitigating the problems caused by EBS monopoly of the CSAT book market. Furthermore;it considers the negative effects of disregarding textbooks in schools and the effects of connection policy between EBS books and CSAT in the future.
