As testing has significant effects on students’ learning motivation as well as teaching and learning, intramural regular English tests should be examined to see if they measure what they intend to measure. This study is aimed at reporting the results of item analysis on an intramural regular English test that is periodically administered for Korean high school students. In order to analyze the items of the regular test, three standards are used: item facility, item discrimination and distractors’ attractiveness. The subjects of this study were 329 third-grade high-school students who took the midterm examination in U city, Gyeonggi province. The results showed that the average of item facility was 74.9%, which means that the test was considered neither too difficult nor too easy. The average of item discrimination was 0.47, so the test had quite a high discrimination power. However, considering the distractors’ attractiveness, a couple of question items were found that needed improvement. Through this study, all of the test items were thoroughly examined and analyzed. To maximize reliability and validity, teachers should analyze the results of the test and try to improve the test items after administering the regular test.
