  • 58

This study attempted to investigate current hair coloring services and perception of hair dyeing in beauty salons. For this, an online questionnaire survey was performed against a total of 312 hairdressers from February 25 to March 27, 2019 to examine if there are any differences in hair coloring services by age and educational background. To verify the reliability of the perception of hair coloring services and examine if such perception differs by demographic characteristics, furthermore, frequency analysis, cross-tabulation analysis, χ² test, factory analysis and one-way ANOVA were conducted, and the results found the followings: As the respondents were older, gray hair covering was most common. Coloring hair roots was most preferred in ‘30s’ while trendy dyeing was the highest in ‘20s’. The active attitude toward trendy hair color was also the highest in ‘20s’. When asked what was most difficult during hair coloring, ‘hard to tell what color would come out’ was most responded. Therefore, it appears to be urgent to have a solution for creating the exact color. In terms of satisfaction with hair coloring and perception of hair coloring services, the satisfaction level was high in ‘50s or older’, ‘college graduates’ and ‘regions other than Gyeongsangnam-do’. In addition, the perception of hair coloring was high in ‘men’, ‘younger than 20’, ‘30s’, ‘40s’, ‘junior college graduates’ and ‘less than KRW 2 million in monthly average income’.
