기후변화 페임랩(FameLab) 프로그램이 초등학생의 의사소통능력과 기후변화 대응 행동의도에 미치는 영향

Effects of Climate Change Program Using FameLab on Elementary School Students’ Communication Skills and Behavioral Intention on Climate Change

이 연구는 2015 개정 교육과정을 재구성하여 국어, 사회, 수학 과목을 융합한 총 23차시의 기후변화 페임랩 프로그램을 개발하여, 초등학교 6학년 학생 27명을 대상으로 적용하였다. 프로그램의 효과를 알아보기 위하여 의사소통능력과 기후변화 대응 행동의도를 사전·사후 측정하였고, 학생 소감문과 발표 내용도 함께 수집하여 분석하였다. 그 결과, 기후변화 페임랩 프로그램은 학생들의 의사소통능력과 기후변화대응 행동의도의 함양에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 활동 과정에서 학생들은 자발적인 지식에 대한 이해 및 학습, 서로의 정보를 공유하고 의견을 들어볼 수 있는 다양한 학습 경험을 하였고, 활동 후 학생들은 지적 호기심과 흥미와 태도, 자신감 등의 정의적인 부분에도 긍정적인 응답을 하였다. 더불어 개발된 페임랩 프로그램은 기후변화를 소재로 한 융합교육(STEAM)의 효과적인 사례를 제공하였다.

I designed, implemented and observed the effects of climate change FameLab program on enhancing students’ communication skills and behavioral intention on climate change. Twenty-seven 6th grade students in a public elementary school participated in this study. Data was collected by administering a questionnaire to examine the skills before and after the program, and by conducting students observations. In addition, I analyzed the responses of students to activity and student’s speech. The results indicated that they improved significantly in communication skills and behavioral intention on climate change. They experienced the expansion of their thoughts by actively sharing information and ideas during activities. And they positively perceived the values that collaboration with friends could produce. They also reported that the FameLab experience increased confidence in their ability to communicate and expanding their interest in science. This study shows a good example of a climate change STEAM program using FameLab for elementary school students.
