Objectives: This convergence study aims to investigate the effects of the interpersonal relationship ability of dental hygiene students on their problem-solving ability. The subjects of this study were dental hygiene students. Methods: The 287 questionnaires collected in this study were analyzed using the SPSS 25.0 program. This study surveyed dental hygiene and students. Data were collected from the questionnaire from September 2 to October 15, 2019. Results: The scores of the dental hygiene students in interpersonal relationship and problem-solving abilities were 3.33 and 3.49, respectively. Among the subfactors of interpersonal relationship ability, confidence in relationships showed a high positive correlation with interaction management (p<0.01), other-directedness with self-expression (p<0.01), and self-expression with problem-solving ability (p<0.01). The subfactors of interpersonal relationship ability affected the problem-solving ability in the following order: other-directedness (p<0.001), confidence in relationships (p<0.001), self-expression (p<0.01), interaction management (p<0.01), and trust building (p<0.05). Conclusions: Therefore, a dental hygiene education program should be developed, and a convergent teaching strategy must be established to improve the interpersonal relationship and problem-solving abilities of dental hygiene students.
