Objectives: Dental hygienists must be able to help and sacrifice for others in order to communicate with patients in dental clinics. This study was conducted to promote the volunteer work and work satisfaction research of dental hygienists. Methods: Random sampling was applied, and the participants consisted of 115 dental hygienists who experienced volunteer work in Busan and Gyeongnam Province from September 1, 2019 to September 30, 2019. Results: The form of participation (p<0.001), degree of participation (p=0.004), and location (p<0.001) were factors affecting job satisfaction. Job satisfaction and degree of participation in volunteer work had a static correlation with volunteer activity participation motivation (r=0.595, p<0.001) and volunteer satisfaction level (r=0.392, p<0.001). Volunteer satisfaction was related to task satisfaction (r=0.392, p<0.001), participation motivation (r=0.507, p<0.001), recognition and appropriateness of service activities (r=0.537, p<0.001), and expected agreement (r=−0.296, p<0.01). Conclusions: Volunteer groups of dental hygienists should be organized to expand the experience of volunteer activities affecting the job satisfaction of dental hygienists.
