The Effect of Career barrier on Career exploration behavior of Out-of-school youth: The Mediating Effect of Self-esteem And depression

본 연구는 학교 밖 청소년이 지각한 진로장애와 진로탐색행동의 관계에서 자아존중감과 우울의 매개효과를 살펴보는 데 주된 목적이 있다. 본 연구에서는 한국청소년정책연구원에서 수행한 「학업중단 청소년 패널 조사 및 지원방안 연구」의 데이터를 활용하였다. 그 중 5차년도 조사(2017)에 참여한 318명을 대상으로 하였다. 분석을 위해 SPSS 21.0을 활용하였으며 매개효과를 알아보기 위하여 Baron와 Kenny(1986)가 제안한 매개효과 분석단계에 따라 순차적 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 진로장애, 자아존중감, 우울, 진로탐색행동은 유의미한 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 진로장애와 진로탐색행동의 관계에서 자아존중감은 부분 매개효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 진로장애와 진로탐색행동의 관계에서 우울은 부분 매개효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구를 바탕으로 연구의 논의와 결론을 제시하였으며, 제한점과 후속연구를 위한 제언을 하였다.

This study is empirical research intended to test a mediated effect of Self-esteem and depression between career barrier and career exploration behavior of out-of-school youth’ This study utilized data from the 「A Study on the Survey for drop out of school」conducted by the National Youth Policy Institute. The subjects of this study were 318 people who participated in the fifth year survey(2017). SPSS 21.0 was used for the analysis and to find out the mediating effect, sequential regression analysis was conducted according to the mediating effect analysis stage proposed by Baron and Kenny (1986). Based on the results of this study; First, there were statistically significant correlation among in career barrier, Self-esteem, depression, career exploration behavior. Second, there were a partial mediation effect of out-of-school youth Self-esteem in the relationship between career barrier and career exploration behavior. Third, there were a partial mediation effect of out-of-school youth depression in the relationship between career barrier and career exploration behavior. Based on the results, implications and limitations were presented for future studies.
