Exploring the Types and Processes of Prototype in Undergraduate Students’ Chemistry Laboratory

이 연구는 대학생들을 위한 디자인 사고 전략에 대한 적용을 위하여, 디자인 사고의 여러 단계 중 프로토타입 단계에 대하여 그 세부 프로세스와 속성을 탐구하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 2015년 11월부터 12월까지 22명의 학부 학생들에게 화학실험 내용과 관련된 디자인 사고의 과정이 필요한 문제를 제공했다. 이 문제를 해결하는 활동 중 프로토타입 단계의 구체적인 특징과 세부적인 과정은 학생들이 작성한 보고서와 인터뷰 후 결과를 토대로 자료 수집 이후 분석되었다. 분석 결과, spa prototype , make-over prototype , communication-sharing prototype 이 학생들의 활동에서 확인되었다. 아이디어 생성과 아이디어 개발단계에서의 프로토타입 완성도과 각 단계의 순환 속도에 따라 프로토타입의 고유한 속성 및 프로세스가 확인되었다. 본 연구 결과로 탐색된 각 프로토타입에 대한 교육적 함의가 논의될 필요가 있다.

This study sought to explore detailed processes and attributes of the prototype phase among the phases of design thinking throughout the application of the design thinking strategy for Korean university students. 22 undergraduate students were provided with design thinking-based inquiry related to the content of chemical laboratory from November to December 2015. Specific characteristics and detailed processes in the prototype phase during this activity were analyzed after the data collection based on the reports written by students and post-interview results. As a result of the analysis, spa prototype , make-over prototype , and communication-sharing prototype were derived from the activities of the students. Distinctive attributions and processes in the prototype were confirmed according to the prototype fidelity in idea generation and development phases and the circulation speed of each phase. The educational implications for each prototype explored as a result of this study need to be discussed.
