A Critical Exploration of the Study of Early Childhood Environmental Sensitivity

이 연구의 목적은 지구환경의 변화에 따른 유아기 환경교육의 중요성을 고찰하고, 동시에 유아기 환경감수성에 대한 검사도구의 내용범주를 비판적으로 탐색해 보는 데 있다. 먼저 이 연구는 유아기 환경교육이 지속가능발전을 위한 환경에 대한 유아의 인식과 태도를 형성한다는 점에 그 중요성이 있음을 확인하였다. 또 환경감수성 검사도구의 범주와 내용에는 어떠한 것이 있는지, 그리고 그 범주와 내용은 타당한지를 비판적으로 검토하였다. 이러한 과정을 통해, 환경교육이 실천적인 면을 주요 내용으로 다루고 있으므로 이를 검사도구의 내용범주로 추가하는 것이 필요함을 확인하였다. 즉 환경감수성에 대한 검사도구의 요인들에 환경을 개선하려는 의지적 측면을 검사도구의 내용범주로 추가할 필요가 있다. 여기에서 의지란 환경에 대한 사랑의 감성이 수반된 열정이라고 할 수 있다. 환경에 대한 배려와 연민 등의 정서적 범주와 함께 환경을 개선하려는 의지, 즉 열정은 실천의 큰 동력이라 할 수 있다.

The purpose of the study is to consider the importance of early childhood environmental education based on changes in the global environment and to explore critically the content categories of inspection tools for early childhood environmental sensitivity. First, the study identified that early childhood environmental education is important in forming the children’s awareness and attitude towards the environment for sustainable development. Also, the study showed what the categories and contents of environmental sensitivity are and examined the validity of the categories and contents critically. It was also proved that the environmental education needs to be added as a content category of inspection tools in that the education deals with a practical aspect as a main content. That is, the volitional aspect to improve the environment should be added to the factors of inspection tools for environmental sensitivity as the content category of the inspection tools. The volition here means a passion accompanied by a sense of love for the environment. The volition, or passion to improve the environment, with the consideration and compassion for the environment, needs to be reflected in the inspection tools.
