향가<처용가>와 고려<처용가>의 인물 변이 양상과 그 의미

Changing Patterns and Means of Characters in the Folk Song of the Silla Dynasty Period <Cheyongga> and the Folk Song of the Goryeo Dynasty Period <Cheyongga>

The purpose of this article is to study changes of characters in the folk song of the Silla Dynasty period <Cheyongga(처용가)> and the folk song of the Goryeo Dynasty period <Cheyongga> as a material study. The roles of ‘Cheoyong and ‘Yeoksin(역신) in both songs are contrary to each other. ‘Cheoyong shows the features of a person who suffers in the folk song of the Silla and a character who has the God s power and drives away ‘Yeoksin in the folk song of the Goryeo. ‘Yeoksin is God in the folk song of the Silla, and on the other hand, he is a namely ‘God who always escapes in the folk song of the Goryeo. There are new characters-a wife and a singing person- in two songs. ’A wife is a the source of all events in the folk song of the Silla and weakend as the image of ‘two legs in the folk song of the Goryeo. ‘A singing person who appears only on the folk song of the Goryeo plays an important role who calls out ’Cheoyong and ‘Yeoksin . The changes of characters and their roles can be found from the background tale of the folk song of the Silla. ‘A singing person stands out in the changing process from the folk song of the Silla <Cheyongga> and the folk song of the Goryeo <Cheyongga>. It is the vestigial voices of people who try to drive away a devil and to welcome the happiness by attaching the faces of ‘Cheoyong at the gates.
