토론 담화에서의 정의(定義) 전략 분석

Analysis of Definition Strategy in Debate Discourses

본 연구에서는 실제 토론을 분석하여 정의가 토론에서 전략적으로 활용되는 양상에 대해 논의하였다. 그 결과 정의가 토론에 끼친 영향은 크게 ‘논제에 포함된 주요 개념의 구체화’, ‘주장의 출발점 명확화’, ‘상대방 주장을 반박할 때의 연결고리 형성’, ‘정서적 이미지 강화 및 축소’, ‘정의에 숨겨진 의도, 프레임 명확화’ 등으로 제시할 수 있었다. 즉 토론 참여자들은 토론에서 필수로 논의해야 할 주요 개념에 대한 정의를 시도하거나 자신의 정의를 출발점으로 하여 주장을 펼치고, 상대방의 정의를 연계 고리로 하여 반박하고 있었다. 그리고 정의가 지닌 정서를 고려하여 자신의 개념에 유리한 정서를 구축하고자 하고, 정의에 숨겨진 의도, 프레임을 부각시켜 청중의 주의를 환기시키는 양상을 보였다. 본 연구에서는 이를 크게 토론의 논증 관리와 정서적 이미지 관리의 두 범주로 분류하여 세부적으로 분석하였다. 이는 이후 토론 담화에서의 개념 정의 활용과 관련한 교육 내용으로 변환될 수 있다.

In this study, we analyzed the actual debate and discussed how definitions can be used strategically in debates. As a result, the impact of definitions on the debate has largely been ‘specification of the main concepts contained in the thesis , ‘clarification of the starting point of the claim , ‘the formation of links in refuting opponents arguments, ‘strengthening and reducing the emotional image , ‘hidden intentions, frame clarification.’ In other words, the participants in the debate attempted to define the main concepts that must be discussed in the debate or argued with their own definition as a starting point, and rebutted the other s definition as a link. In addition, he tried to build an emotion that is favorable to his concept by considering the emotion of definitions, and showed the intentions and frames hidden in the definition to draw the attention of the audience. In this study, this study is divided into two categories, argumentative management of debates and emotional image management, and analyzed in detail. This can then be translated into educational content related to the use of conceptual definitions in debate discourse.
