지역박물관과 학예인력은 매장문화재 조사 전문기관과 광역시도의 서포터가 아니라 지역문화의 중심으로서 역할을 수행해야 한다. 이를 위해서는 기존의 시스템에 끌려가는 사업체계가 아니라 조사사업의 핵심인 해석과 복원작업의 주도권을 쥐는 것이 중요하다. 이를 통해 고고연구의 중심기관으로서 지역박물관의 위상을 정립할 수 있으며 지역에서 벌어지는 고고연구의 지속가능한 발전도 가져올 수 있다. 지역 고고학 자료의 아카이브로서의 지역박물관, 아카이브를 이용한 지역사의 복원은 다른 박물관이 지니지 못한 차별화된 가치를 확보할 수 있는 방안이다. 이러한 성과들이 차곡차곡 쌓여갈 때 지역박물관은 지역의 고고학 정책 완성과 집행을 하는 기획기관이자 실무기관으로서의 역할을 할 수 있을 것이다.

Regional museums and curators must play the role of regional culture center, not supporters of archeological property research. To do so, it is important to take the initiative in interpretation and restoration work, which is the core of the research project, rather than the business system dragged by the existing system. As a result, it is possible to establish a position as a regional museum as a central institution of archeological research, and to achieve sustainable development of archeological research performed in the region. A regional museum as an archive of regional archeological materials, and the restoration of regional history using the archive is a way to secure the differentiated value that other museums did not have. As these achievements accumulate, the regional museum is a planning agency that completes and enforces the archeological policy of the region, and could serve as a working body.
