The purpose of this study was to develop English Teaching Assistant system(ETAS) to enhance teaching practice of student teachers at elementary schools. The study also investigated the best execution model of ETAS based on in- and pre-service teachers’ perceptions of this educational system. As an action research, this study had three cycles (the years of 2009, 2010, 2019) of planning, action, observation, reflection, and replanning & suggestions for the better teaching practicum. Survey questionnaires, email interviews, and teaching journals were used to examine both in- and pre-service elementary school teachers perceptions. According to the study, ETAS seemed to be more effective and beneficial for juniors than sophomores. It is also preferred when its length lasts at least more than 2 weeks at a time. In addition, pre-discussion and pre-conference between in- and pre-service teachers on their roles and job would be preferred.
