秋淵 權龍鉉의 『秋淵集』을 통해 본 근현대 한문 작품의 素材와 서술 양상

The materials and the literary form of description of Sinographical literature in the modern period: focused on the case of Ch’uyŏn Kwŏn Yonghyŏn’s Ch’uyŏnjip (秋淵集)

본 논문은 秋淵 權龍鉉(1899~1988)의 문집에 수록된 작품들을 통해 근현대 한문 작품의 素材와 서술 양상을 살펴보는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 구한말부터 현대까지 격동하는 한국의 근현대를 살아간 인물이었기에 그의 작품에서 근현대의 역사적 사건 혹은 현대의 문물에 대한 서술을 확인할 수 있다. 첫 번째로 단발령이나 일제 강점기, 광복 등의 역사적 사건에 대한 술회를 서술한 작품들에 대해 살펴보았다. 권용현은 일제 강점기 당시에 항일투쟁운동에 참여하지도, 그렇다고 친일행위를 하지도 않으며 산 속에서 조용히 살아갔다. 그렇지만 일본과 외세에 대한 강한 저항심을 가지고 있었으며, 그의 이러한 사상과 광복 이후에 대한 전망 등을 작품 속에서 엿볼 수 있다. 이를 통해 일제 강점기 당시 유학자들이 꿈꾼 광복 후의 조선은 ‘과거로의 회귀’였음을 확인하였다. 두 번째로 시외버스, 비행기 등 문명의 이기를 활용한 것에 대한 기록과 현대적 의미의 관광 체험을 읊은 시 작품들에 대해 살펴보았다. 여기에서 ‘유람일기’ 형식의 작품에서 시외버스를 운송수단으로 이용하게 되면서 노정에 대한 서술이 대폭 축소된 것을 확인할 수 있었으며, 비행기에 탑승하는 경험을 列子에 비추어 표현한 것에서 현대 한문 작품의 특징적 면모를 고찰할 수 있었다. 현대적 관광 체험은 일제 강점기에 일본이 관광 개발한 이후의 경주를 관광한 것에 대한 시 작품들과 유배지에서 관광지로 변모한 지 얼마 되지 않은 제주도 여행에 대한 시 작품들을 살펴보았다. 이를 통해 현대적 의미의 관광 체험과 여행을 고전과 과거 등 전근대적인 사유방식을 바탕으로 그려낸다는 사실을 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 현대 한문작품들에 대한 연구가 한문학 연구의 외연을 확장시키고 한국 근현대사 서술을 풍성하게 만드는 데 일조할 수 있기를 기대한다.

The purpose of this paper is to examine the aspects of modern classical Chinese literature and descriptions through the works contained in the literary books of Ch’uyŏn(秋淵, 1899-1988). As he lived through the turbulent modern times, we can find the descriptions of modern historical events or contemporary culture in his works. First, study on the works that describe his perspective about historical events in Japanese colonial era. Ch’uyŏn neither take part in the resist-Japanese movement nor participate in the pro-Japanese activities, live quietly in the rural area. However, he had strong resistance to Japan and the foreign powers, and his thoughts and prospects for Korea s post-liberation period are seen in his works. Secondly, we took a look at the history of using the spirit of civilization, such as intercity buses and airplanes, and poetry works that recited modern tourism experiences. The use of the intercity bus as a means of transportation in the works in the form of A travel diary showed a significant reduction in the description of the route, and the characteristic features of modern classical chinese literature were examined in Lièzǐ(列子).
